Alleging that pressure was exerted by US over the UN Human Rights Council, the Movement said "that was why the panel deferred release of its report on rights violations" in Sri Lanka.

"America did so as Maithripala Sirisena who assumed office in January this year was its supporter," they further added.

The report was originally scheduled to be released on March 25 this year and has been deferred by six months to September. The report is on issues including serious violations and alleged human rights abuses and related crimes committed in during the 2009 war against the LTTE.
