Mumbai based comedy group All India Bakchod's (AIB) co-founder Tanmay Bhat's 'controversial' video 'mocking' Bharat Ratna awardees Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar has been a topic of discussion with many slamming the comedian. Now, comedian Sunil Pal has 'stolen' Tanmay's thunder, sort of, by making a bizzare statement.
Sunil Pal, who is best known for winning the first edition of 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' in 2005, attacked Tanmay, for his Snapchat video as a part of a panel discussion in a news channel.
However, in doing so, he made an outrageous statement by dragging the LGBT community into the debate. This is what he said.
"Half the audience of Tanmay Bhat are gays and lesbians who like his sort of comedy, because as it is, they want to only dirty the society," Pal said on air.
This incensed Twitterati who slammed Pal for his parochial comments. Filmmaker Shirish Kunder, stand-up comics like Biswa Kalyan Rath, Rohan Joshi, Amogh Ranadive also dissed the comedian. Here are some of the tweets.
Sunil Pal is not stupid. He's intentionally making these ridiculous statements to get Rajya Sabha seat from BJP.— Shirish Kunder (@ShirishKunder) May 31, 2016

Sunil Pal so right about all stand up comedians being all gays and lesbians. Coz we all have a bit of queer in us and we're proud of it.— Aditi Mittal (@awryaditi) May 31, 2016

Guys. This needs outrage.
I'm gay for Sunil Pal.— Sorabh Pant (@hankypanty) May 31, 2016
Lol I've seen Sunil Pal live and I was embarrassed at how crass he was https://t.co/UPncfg6eXF— Amogh Ranadive (@amoghranadive) May 31, 2016
Sunil Pal did a comedy festival full of the kind of shows he's now mocking. Koi nahi hasa, stage se utaarna pada. Still bitter I guess.— Karunesh Talwar (@karuneshtalwar) May 31, 2016
Compared Tamnay's act with terrorism. Sunil Pal is a legend.— Anand akela (@Upooorv) May 31, 2016
Only one thanking Sunil Pal today is Tanmay Bhat. The attention on Twitter seems to have shifted there.— Parul Tyagi (@tyagiparul) May 31, 2016
