Supporters could be held for abetment to suicide if anything happens to Gandhian

A small twist in the tale might land Team Anna in huge trouble. According to Delhi police sources, if anything happens to Anna Hazare, the department can book the whole team for abetment of suicide. It has been 10 days since Anna began the fast.

Considering that Anna is 74-year-old and has not eaten in 10 days, his health might take a turn for the worse suddenly and in that case, Delhi police is all set to lodge an FIR under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) against Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal, Shanti vBhushan and other members of his team, said sources.

"Everyone has pleaded with him to end the fast, but his team is not relenting. And though a team of government doctors is available for him, his aides insist on getting Anna's health checked by private doctor, Naresh Trehan," said a top brass official, requesting anonymity.

"Bedi, Kejriwal and Bhushan are talking to the government, not Anna. Provoking someone to do harm to his life is a crime," said the official. MiD DAY tried to contact Bedi, but she was not available.

PIL to 'save' Anna
Delhi Police are ready to lift Anna from the venue and are just waiting for the doctor to announce that the Gandhian's condition is critical. Another top official said if someone files public interest litigation (PIL) with the court, police can take appropriate action.
