BabyChakra is an app for new/expecting parents to connect and share information on child and pregnancy care. It’s available for free download on all Android phones.
What we liked
To know that there’s a platform where new or expecting parents can log in and seek information on childcare and pregnancy care is a relief. Our family circles are getting smaller, and the elders, who were supposed to be an encyclopedia of all knowledge on childcare, are often far away to help.

Most people learn the nuts and bolts of parenting only after they become one, and BabyChakra allows you to connect with similar people across the country as well as offers guidance from experts on pregnancy on childcare.
The app is divided into four sections — For You (with a list of articles and suggestions curated for you), Discover (which offers list of health professionals and facilities for child and pregnancy care), Learn (to know more about pregnancy and childcare), and Events that shares a list of upcoming events to attend.
There are several articles from the BabyChakra team including pregnancy care guides across weeks of pregnancies, benefits of breastfeeding, finding the right supplements, home tips for child sleep problems, as well as regular live chats with medical
professionals.
What we didn't
Like any other free app, BabyChakra is not immune to the needs of marketing and promotions, which is understandable. But keeping in mind the recent findings where a popular baby care brand was found to have carcinogenic elements in its products, we would recommend keeping suggestions on cosmetics, synthetic products and toys off the platform.
Also, a paid promotion should be marked as “Ad” and not as article on the app to help users distinguish between a suggestion and promotion.
Although, they have something called MomStar (to differentiate moms offering advices from the rest), a system that verifies the trustworthiness of information or ranking system which rates its usefulness is missing.
The verdict
Minus the promotions, and lack of ranking system, BabyChakra is a great platform for new or expectant parents to furnish themselves with details on childcare and pregnancy.
