Designed by an Indian hardware start-up, Frodocam may just be next big thing for adventure lovers
If you haven’t managed to preorder the latest adventure camera in the market, the Frodocam, you might want to hurry up. The folks behind the adventure camera, recently went online on crowdfunding website, Indiegogo.com to generate funds to kickstart the production of the Frodocam. Those backing the adventure camera could pre-order few units of the Frodocam at a discounted rate. Most of the early bird offers are sold, but one can still pre-order the 16GB model ($149), an adventure bundle featuring a 32Gb Frodocam, battery back and adventure bracelet for $239. The preorders, however, are expected to close once the funding closes in the next five days.
Designed by Indian hardware start-up NexGear, Frodocam has been dubbed as India’s answer to the GoPro. And based on the promotional videos that we have seen so far, the camera offers a set of unique features, including a unique algorithm that automatically edits the video into a shorter length. It also comes with a strap band, which allows you to mount it anywhere, be it on your wrist, your helmet, around your neck or to a tree.
It also weighs light at 110 g, and can capture 1080p videos at 30fps. It comes with a wide 120-degree field of view and can take still photos (3264x2448 pixels) as well. The makers claim that the camera also comes with a really fast boot-up time of 0.7 seconds, allowing one to turn it on instantly to capture the action. Though the battery isn’t replaceable, it can offer 1.5 hours of running time, and can be extended up to five hours using an external battery pack. It is available in 16GB and 32GB models with a 64Gb model to be released at a later stage. Deliveries of Frodocams will commence around November 2016.
