A woman, who was working as a domestic help, allegedly jumped to her death from the 17th floor of an apartment building in Wadala, a central suburb in Mumbai.

A 19-year-old housemaid hailing from Assam allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by jumping from the 17th floor of a residential building at Wadala in Central Mumbai.u00a0


Manasi Das Gupta, who had been working with an affluent family residing at Cosmic Heights in Bhakti Park area for nearly one year, leaped to death from the window of a passage, police said.


Manasi, who was married to Rajesh Gupta, had appeared tense for past few days allegedly after learning that her estranged husband married another woman.


According to police, at about 10.30 AM Manasi rushed out from the house of her employer Amitesh Shah, who works with a well-known private company.

Amitesh's wife, Poonam came out after seeing Manasi running out of the house, found the teenager standing near the passage window, police added. By the time Poonam proceeded to prevent her, the housemaid had already jumped, police said, adding she died on the spot.

"No suicide note was found," police said.
