Telgi had applied for bail on health grounds stating that he requires special medical attention. While submitting its report before the HC yesterday, the board opined that Telgi is suffering from diabetes since the past 25 years, hypertension since the past 20 years, besides AIDS and hypothyroidism since 2001.

The board also observed that Telgi's movements are restricted to a wheelchair because of weakness and joint pains. Besides these ailments, during a detailed medical examination conducted by the board, Telgi was found to be complaining of pain in the left chest and joint pains for the last eight months, including difficulty in passing urine for the last six months. The board has recommended supervision of medication and a dietitian in prison. Justice V Jagananthan postponed the matter to September 3.
