Sixteen-year-old Tendulkar made his debut for India in the Karachi Test against Pakistan. He didn't have a successful debutu00a0-- bowled by fellow debutant Waqar Younis for 15 which he considers a low for that decade. However, he had no hesitation in naming the half century which helped India save the Sialkot Test as the high point.

After the disappointment in Karachi, Tendulkar admitted that he found international cricket too tough to handle. He was boosted by the presence of some splendid teammates like Ravi Shastri, who stressed that things will get better with time. Tendulkar had his ears open, but he also worked hard at his game.

The 1998 Test series win against Australia was the high point of this decade for Tendulkar, who even picked his Perth Test hundred against the Aussies in 1991-92 as a glory moment. Tendulkar said the low point was his hundred against Pak in Chennai, 1999, an effort which went in vain.u00a0 The back injury suffered during this period was a low moment too.

Tests: 89, Runs: 7129

It was yet another memorable decade for the batting master. Tendulkar classified the historic series win in Pakistan in 2003-04 as a high. Ditto, the 1-1 drawn series in Australia. A win in Adelaide was followed by a loss in Melbourne but India were clearly the better side in the drawn Test at Sydney where Tendulkar, who had been short of runs in the previous three Tests, came up with a disciplined double century. The low point of the decade according to the icon was the series loss in SA, 2006-07. Despite winning the first Test, India succumbed to defeats in the next two.

Sachin Tendulkar's 44th Test hundred was not an easy one and that's a credit to the charged-up Bangladeshi attack.

"I thought the hundred came at the right time because the team needed it.

"It was a challenge in conditions that suited the bowlers," said Tendulkar of his first innings effort which helped India reach 243.

India's 113-run win over the hosts was Tendulkar's highlight of the new year.
