Late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray was not keeping well since November 2007 and all his relatives, including his estranged son Jaidev and nephew Raj Thackeray, regularly inquired about his health, his personal physician today told the Bombay High Court.

Dr Jaleel Parkar, Thackeray's trusted physician, was being examined as a witness in a dispute between the late leader's sons Uddhav (the current Sena chief) and Jaidev over his will. In his last will of December 13, 2011, Thackeray did not give anything to Jaidev, while bequeathing a major portion of the estate to Uddhav Thackeray.

While Uddhav has sought probate (certification) of the will, Jaidev has challenged itsvalidity saying his father was of "unsound mind" at the time and Uddhav "influenced" him. Dr Parkar had signed the will as a witness. Jaidev's lawyer, advocate Seema Sarnaik, today asked Parkar with whom he (Parkar) usually discussed Thackeray's health and the course of treatment.

Parkar said he used to discuss it regularly with Uddhav and his wife. "I discussed (Thackeray's health) with his sons, including Jaidev," he added. Parkar further said that even Raj Thackeray and his family often talked to him about Bal Thackeray's health. To a question, Parkar said he had also treated Uddhav and Raj Thackeray's mother on a few occasions.

Justice Gautam Patel today adjourned the further hearing to June 10 when he will fix a date for calling Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab, one of the plaintiffs seeking probate, for cross-examination. Bal Thackeray died on November 17, 2012, after prolonged illness.
