The Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) have recovered gold worth Rs 32 lakh (around 127 tolas) and around Rs 1.2 lakh in cash from Rajput’s locker.
Caught red-handed
On Wednesday the ACB, Thane unit, caught Senior Police Inspector Shahaji Jadhav and three head constables — Prem Singh Rajput, Uday Shankar Kore and Suresh Patil — of Thane Crime Branch, Unit V, red-handed while accepting Rs 50,000 — first installment of Rs 2 lakh they had demanded from a chemical factory manufacturer in Wada, Thane. “The owner’s employees, who were caught mixing kerosene in phenyl after which the owner came and offered to pay the bribe,” said Praveen Dixit, director general of police, Maharashtra, ACB.
The panchanama
“On Saturday, we conducted a search of his bank locker at Thane Bharat Sahakari Bank and recovered gold worth Rs 32 lakh and cash worth Rs 1,19,670,” said Dattatray Karale, Superintendent of police, Thane ACB. The police is still in the process of filing a panchanama as they suspect more valuables are likely to be found.
