“We have registered a case of sexual assault case and in the process of collecting CCTV footage and technical evidence,” said Deputy Commissioner of police, Vasant Jadhav, of Zone IV, Thane Police.
Victim’s version
The 42-year-old lady had joined the Dolphin Club House, at Ulhasnagar III — a restaurant with lodging facilities on Friday.
According to the victim’s statement, at 3 pm, Sadanand Shetty, the hotel’s owner, called her to room number 602 on the pretext of work where he sexually assaulted her.
Possibility of a frame-up
The police are checking the CCTV footage as well as detailed call records of the victim and the accused.
However, they are not ruling out the possibility of Shetty being framed as he had recently helped the police to carry out a string of raids at various dubious hotels in the area.
Meanwhile, the victim alleged that the police was reluctant to register her complaint and kept her waiting.
She also claimed that the accused had tried to settle the matter by bribing her.
