Thane: Asked to lower music, four youths beat up two constables on duty

This is what happens when people are stopped from doing things, which they are definitely not supposed to do. Four youths beat up two constables on duty when they were asked to stop the loud music that they were playing in their car. All of them have been booked by Manpada police in Dombivli.

According to police, the two constables, identified as Ram Gajbare, 43, and S Sonawane, 23, were on patrolling duty. The incident took place on Sunday night around 10:45pm, when they were passing through Sonarpada area.

"The constables noticed four youths playing loud music in their Swift car and dancing. All of them were under the influence of alcohol," said a police officer from Manpada police station.

Bajran Zende, assistant police inspector, Manpada police station said, "When the cops asked them to stop they started arguing. The main accused Kiran Gaikwad threatened the constables by saying that he could get them suspended using his political influence. Thereafter, they started pushing and beating the cops. The constables then informed the control room and a team was sent to the spot from Manpada police station. Three of them were arrested as one had already fled."

One accused on the run
A case has been registered against four people, including Kiran Gaikwad, Abhishek Trivedi, Omkar Gunjal and Sameer alias Sunny Gaikwad. "We have arrested three people as Sameer Gaikwad, brother of the main accused, had fled the spot," said Zende.

A case has been registered at Manpada police station under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 34 (common intention) of IPC.
