Thane: A minor girl was allegedly raped by a man for about a year following which she became pregnant, police said today.
The accused, identified as Rahim (age not specified), a resident of Sainik Nagar in Kausa area of Thane's Mumbra
town, had been sexually assaulting the girl since October last year, Mumbra Police Station H S Kamraj said.
The man raped the girl till September 1 this year at several places, including the girl's house in the same area, his house and a secluded place nearby. He also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the offence to anybody, the police officer said quoting the complaint filed by the girl last evening.
The girl, who is three months' pregnant, has been referred for medical examination at Thane civil hospital, Kamraj said. The accused has been charged under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and also sections 3(a) and 4 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012, police said, adding that search was on to nab him.
