What happens when a guy who aspires to join IIT ends up in Russia after meeting a fatal accident? The book centres on the adventures of Pankaj as he shifts his base from India to Volgograd, a Russian place that's known as 'City of Heroes' because it played a major role in stopping Hitler's assault on highly expensive and capitalist Russia. 
The city still remains equally expensive, but is going through a lot of civil turmoil, because Russia is switching from a communist to a capitalist economy. The moment Pankaj starts getting used to the place, his seniors in college, who are considered as the 'Campus Gods' unexpectedly turn into his enemy and conspire to ruin him with the help of the local mafia. Pankaj even lands up in jail.
