The clash of the Kishore Kumar biopics!

Looks like this is one more game of one-upmanship in Bollywood. While Anurag Basu’s film on Kishore Kumar was still on the anvil, Shoojit Sircar went ahead and decided to base his own project on the legendary singer. Buzz now is that Shoojit’s film, which was on the backburner for a while, is all set to go on the floors towards the end of this year.

A source says, “Shoojit announced the project in December 2008 and was keen to make the film and UTV were rumoured to be backing his project. However for some reasons, the project did not go forward at that time.”

Post that, Anurag announced two films, both starring Ranbir Kapoor and went on to make Barfi! first and is now said to be busy working on the singer’s biopic. Shoojit in the meanwhile was busy with Vicky Donor and is currently working on Madras Cafe.

The source adds, “After this, he intends to shoot the biopic, as he also has a producer on board now who is backing the project. However, Shoojit is keeping everything under wraps.”

According to industry insiders, what’s most interesting is that Shoojit could be completing the film even before Basu’s film will go on the floors.

Shoojit however denies any of this and states, “I am not making the film at this moment. I agree that I was talking to the family for their permissions at one point of time but later I backed out. All I know is that Anurag is making one with UTV and I am not doing it.”

This seems like yet another one of those Bhagat Singh films.u00a0
