So, were you updating your wall one day when you thought why not write a book on Facebook?
(Laughs) Well, I do have a Facebook account like the 400 million other people out there. I was just finishing up with my book Conversations With Friends, when I had an idea. I knew that a website that helped connect so many people must surely have several amazing stories. I bounced off the idea with my publishers and they really liked it.

Facebook Fairytales is about people whose lives changedu00a0 because of the website. How many stories did you dig out originally?
I found hundreds. I'd written to the Facebook founders to help me with stories from their database. I also posted a request on my wall, asking people to help me with their own personal accounts. There was so much diversity of thought, scene, geography, it's amazing.

Are you planning a sequel?
I'm planning multiple sequels. Though nothing is final yet, here's what I'm looking at: one straight sequel and other more specific ones. I've been toying with the idea of taking off from the Chicken Soup franchise. You know, have like a 'Facebook Romances', 'Facebook Teenagers' -- different kinds of stories clubbed together.

How often do you log on to Facebook?
Every hour. (Laughs) I'm constantly on it if I'm home. If I'm travelling, I reconnect via my iPhone. Of course, I've written a whole book on the social networking website, so it's for personal and professional reasons. It's a happy place for me, much kinder than the real world is. I guess it's because people are reconnecting with friends, talking and laughing together, looking at photographs, sharing things.u00a0

There's been a lot of talk about how social networking brings about attention disorder. What do you think?
I think that people who get 'distracted' by Facebook, would get distracted by anything else. You can't blame the website for that.

Your favourite account from Facebook Fairytales?
The one in which a young mum in Florida donated her kidney to another young mother in New York, after reading a mutual friend's wall update. These two women didn't even know each other. That was touching.

Facebook Fairytales is published by Skyhorse Publishing and available on Amazon.com
