'What stopped letters being sent in Bethlehem? Apostle strike'. 'Mother's Day is fine for Jesus, but Father's Day is always a little awkward.'

Jesus saves, but did you know he could pun, too? To find out more, follow the Twitter account, Jesus Tweets You. There are Lenten reflections and requests for good deeds but on the whole, the account uses humour to give us an interactive experience of modern-day Jesus, if he were alive today. The description even reads 'Straight outta Bethlehem. You may have seen my face on some toast. #YOLT'. The account is run by UK-based company That Lot for Jerusalem Productions.

There's humour in the form of cute animal gifs, photos of Jesus' face on cheese graters and irons, a recipe for turning water into wine (it involves summoning your miracle-performing skills), song lyrics (from Ariana Grande to Adele) treated like Bible passages, an image of the Last Supper captioned 'When the bill arrives and your mates start questioning how much their share is…', and how Mary and Joseph should've looked for an inn on PrayerBnB.

Then there are the puns. There's advice for burning those extra Christmas pounds by 'doing Pontius Pilates', preferring cheese to mince pies because they are more 'savioury', and Jesus being well-adjusted because he had a stable childhood.

The tweets are current too — on International Women's Day, came a tweet about 'Over the years Mary Magdalene has been portrayed in many ways. Usually like she has just been mansplained to', accompanied by pictures of Mary Magdalene, where she does appear to be rolling her eyes heavenward.
