The most controversial moments at Coachella
Some celebrities almost seem to save all the crazy in their heads to bring it out at Coachella
The two-weekend event that has always been replete with controversies surrounding celebs and some cringe-worthy fashion choices entered its second week with much ruckus.
With this year’s fest being just as wild as wild can be, we give you a lowdown on all the controversies surrounding the rich and the famous that kept the rumour mills buzzing...
The Beibs had to find a way to make news yet again. Apparently the Baby hitmaker and his entourage walked into the artiste's entrance where singer Drake was performing, when they were stopped by the security. After arguing that they had wristbands and were personally invited by the singer backstage, Beiber got into an altercation of sorts with the security, who came up from behind and put him in a chokehold. He was then ordered to leave the festival. The miffed singer is apparently considering taking legal action against the security guards.
During Drake’s closing performance at Coachella, Madonna surprised the world with an impromptu and intense make out session with the singer. What made news was Drake's shocked and almost repulsed reaction after the kiss. A shocked Drake even asked the fans, “What just happened?” The rapper did some damage control though after taking to Twitter and thanking Madonna for the kiss. Madonna too took to social media and posted pictures of the kiss with the caption, ‘no caption necessary.’
The Twilight star hit the festival’s second week with her girlfriends. Coincidentally, her ex Robert Pattinson’s fiancé FKA Twigs was performing at the fest. Apparently, the actress barely managed to avoid a run-in with her ex man, which would inevitably have been awkward considering he recently got engaged to Twigs. Even though Rob was there supporting his fiancé, the two managed to not cross paths. If rumours are to be believed, Stewart was quite heartbroken after learning about Pattinsons engagement. No surprises, given the fact that the two were together for so long.
Kendall Jenner made news for more reasons than one this year at Coachella. After spotted cozying up with Justin Beiber, the reality show star found herself in the middle of a sort of feud with rapper Tyler, the Creator. The rapper did not care to mince his words when he went onto one of his monologues dissing the Keeping up with the Kardashians star. Of course, the feisty beauty wasn’t going to take that standing, she immediately retaliated by showing him the middle finger.
Chanel West Coast
The rapper and reality show star threw a rather hysterical and angry fit when she was denied entry into the VIP area. And the meltdown was caught on camera! The Ridiculousness star caused a huge scene as she yelled, "I'm an artist" at the security guards. This run-in, however, did not dampen Coast's mood as she was seen partying later with her boyfriend and friend in tow.
Coachella is known for its bizarre fashion. It's even been deemed as the hotspot for fashion with some celebrities getting it right and some trying a bit too hard. Katy Perry made quite an embarrassing fashion choice this year by wearing a mismatched gold bikini with patchwork dungarees and an orange plus gold puffy jacket. Along with this rather fail look, she also donned two long braids.
The Florence and the Machine singer took the adage ‘break a leg’ quite literally. Welch leaped into the crowds during one of her sets, breaking her foot in the process. She posted a picture of her X ray on Instagram later apologising to her fans and saying she was devastated after the incident. She also said that she still wanted to do the shows,‘By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet,’ she wrote.
The unapologetic singer was apparently caught on camera preparing a line of coke. But she vehemently denied the claim by going on Instagram and saying, ‘Any fool could see that's a joint that I'm basing with cigarette.’ But of course she found herself in the middle of a heated discussion as fans took to social media to debate on whether the ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ singer was rolling or sniffing.
Eat, sleep, rape, repeat T-shirt
This controversy didn't have a celeb name attached to it, but sparked a huge row and how. Making a pun out of the hit song eat, sleep, rave, repeat by Beardyman and Fatboy slim, when the picture of a festival goer wearing a T-shirt saying eat, sleep, rape, repeat came out, it triggered major outrage on social media. Experts have even gone to the extent of calling it one of the most offensive fashion statements till now.
