The perfect party guide for New Year - II

Vibe

Trader Vic’s Mai Tai Lounge
It’s hard to miss this popular joint, located bang opposite the PVR box office at the High Street Phoenix in Lower Parel. This open-air restaurant with its Polynesian themed décor, wooden Tiki carvings, dark wood tables and a live DJ playing thumping party music, is a great place to let your hair down and enjoy its Rum-infused cocktails.

With Xmas just around the corner, the Mai Tai Lounge has planned a special menu for its patrons offering new turkey delicacies such as the Cream of Turkey soup, Cho Cho Glazed over Roastedu00a0Turkey with Creamy Turkey Gravy and Menehune Fig Pudding with Toffee Sauce among others. What betteru00a0way to celebrate this season than with great food fromu00a0across the world, tropical cocktails and more in an open-air character.

Boveda
With its multi-cuisine menu that offers a mix of European, American and Mexican dishes, Boveda is a great place to enjoy great food and drinks. The resto-lounge-bar has two set-ups — the lounge is a bit noisy, with its exposed brick walls and suspended retro bulbs, and an in-house DJ playing music all the time, and outdoor seating, which is more suitable for private conversations.

For this season, apart from its regular fare, Boveda will also serve specials like Bacon Prawns in Tomato Vinaigrette, Mushrooms Stuffed with Cheese, Strawberry Santa and much more. Among cocktails, it has try their like Eggnog, Candy Cane, Mulled Wine, Sugar Cookie Martini, Jingle James and Christmas Delight.

Families & Large Groups

Ping Pong
Ping Pong, is an outpost of the popular London South Asian restaurant that manages to upkeep the suave character be it in terms of ambiance or service. Done up in a modern architectural style, the Bandra Kurla Complex fine dine has low seating and is perfect for celebrations. Dim sums are the main highlight here, which are available in three kinds of selections — Ping Pong, Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian.

The dim sums themselves can be hand as either fried, griddled or baked. Their main courses are also flavourful though quantity is less apportioned as compared to the norm. If you are blessed with the want for authentic taste or enjoy experimentation, their desserts and even cocktails will leave you rewarded.

Chao Ban
Tucked in a cove-like space, the large restaurant has classy and plush interiors for family outings. Located at Kala Ghoda, the SoBo grandeur helps in venturing out to Chao Ban that shares geneaology with Irish House. Often translated as ‘Hello Everybody’ from Vietnamese, the menu offers a variety of Dim Sums, and is characterised by innovation and finesse that extends to all aspects from main course to desserts.

Chao Ban is a favourite with South Mumbai

A key factor of their kitchen is the use of fresh produce and a firm grip on techniques that doesn’t mar any food item by under or over cooking. For those looking to a serene supper with family or loved ones, the wall fountain and the cordial service will score many points.
