The proof of the dumpling

With a gifted chef at the helm, DimSum and More is a godsend for foodies in search of lip-smacking Pan Asian street food fare, stirred up in the comfort of a classy restaurant

DimSum and More is tucked away or comes across like a blink-and-you-will-miss eatery that more or less resembles a Chinese dhaba. But step inside and you will notice pleasing decor with soft lighting and classy seating that overlooks a show kitchen.

Chicken Fried Rice

We browsed through a menu that didn't offer a world of options,; instead, it stuck to specialty cuisine. Here, dim sums are prepared to order, which ensures high quality. We began with the Potato and Cheese Dumpling (Rs 100); it's similar to the traditional Hong Kong version of Varskes Cepelinai (Lithuanian origin). This hearty affair took a while to prepare but the end result was worth the wait.

This dish is perfect for meatless mealsu00a0-- authentic and healthy. Several delicious sauces were served with the dumplings; these were made by combining all ingredients that compliment the dumplings. This creamy potato cheese dish was a treat to tuck into.

Next up, we were served with the Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce (Rs 150). If your taste buds haven't relished the goodness of the original on Asia's streets, you will have the opportunity to salivate over the succulent flavours of this delightful satay. Strips of chicken are well marinated in a special Thai paste, skewered and grilled on the BBQ and served with tangy peanut sauce.

Perfect! Acclaimed Dim sum chef Tenzin Kalden, considered as one of India's best Oriental cuisine chefs, seems to have worked wonders inside DimSum and More's kitchen.

Tempted with the seafood on offer, we opted for the Crispy Prawns Butter Garlic (Rs 175). Deep-fried goodness oozed in every bite of these prawns that were springy in texture, and juicy. It delivered a salty and crunchy layer of shrimp. The dish was rounded up with a very creamy (not buttery) sauce on the side and the garlic aroma was evident.

For the mains, we chose the Chicken in Hot Garlic Sauce (Rs 150). This spicy garlic chicken had a tasty gravy base and was accompanied by a piping-hot Chinese chilli paste mixed into the proceedings. The chicken was saut ufffded to perfection. The Chicken Fried Rice (Rs 130) had an old-world charm.

The rice reminded us of street side Chinese stall fare, popular in the early '90'su00a0-- and I mean this in a good way. Made in advance and cooled, it was separated rather nicely and included long strips of chicken that gave a distinct flavour to each mouthful.
