“Many times, I would get into my car and drive around the block multiple times to convince myself to walk through the door. Sometimes, I would walk in and the whole office would look at me at the same time. I stumbled my way through it,” says Sara Blakely, CEO of Spanx. I felt determined to create a better life for myself. I’ve never sewn, I have never taken a business class in my life, I didn’t know anybody that worked in fashion and retail,” adds Blakely. Doors were slammed on her face and experts in women’s hosiery dismissed her ideas but she proved them wrong.
