Going by a recent accident that took place at the Thane Civic Hospital last Thursday, it is not just Obama's shining pate that the civic body needs to protect.
When Neeta Kadam (25), a resident of Prashant Nagar in Naupada, went to visit her sister Chaitali Arde at the Thane Civil Hospital on Thursday morning, she was blissfully unaware that before long, she would herself be occupying a bed at the hospital.
At noon, she ventured into the hospital compound in order to collect a tiffin from a relative. Before she knew it, three coconuts fell successively from the coconut tree in the compound, hitting her on the head.

Kadam, who was bleeding profusely, was rushed to the surgical ward, where she received four stitches.
Neeta's husband Sanjay said, "We got a CT scan done in order to make sure everything was okay. Thankfully, the reports came back normal.

I think the strong winds dislodged the coconuts from the tree and caused them to fall. Although my wife's sister, who was suffering from malaria, was discharged this morning, my wife is still being kept under observation."
He added, "The hospital has treated her free of cost. Hence we are not pressing any charges. She will be discharged this evening. Such accidents should not be taking place, though."
Official speak
On being asked if any precautionary measures would be taken by the hospital authorities, a resident medical officer (RMO), Dr Nandapurkar said, "I have been busy at a meeting all through the day, so I am not aware of this particular case. I will have to look into the matter."
