Police have arrested Bholanath Mahato of the Maoist-backed People's Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCPA) for his role in the train disaster.
On May 28, the Gyaneshwari Express collided with a goods train in West Midnapore district, killing nearly 148 people.
This is the third arrest in the case.
The CBI that is probing the case had earlier offered Rs 1 lakh for information to help locate the accused.
