If you gatecrash a four-hour party at a terrace garden in Khar tomorrow, you'll spot three-year-olds playing with soap foam and 10-year-olds tucking into snowman-shaped idlis. The fun evening is courtesy My HappyBox, an initiative that ideates and designs activities and books to boost creativity among kids. It has been co-founded by three entrepreneurs Amit Raheja, Shweta Raheja and Deepti Bhagchandani. The event marks their first Christmas Sensory Party. "Play comes with the scope of serious learning. At the party, we have curated activities that stimulate a child's sense of touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste," says 39-year-old Amit.

Inviting 50 children between the age of two and 10, compulsorily accompanied by an adult, the party features seven activity stations. Three of them offer touch-based activities like playing with soap foam, water beads and snow sand. "Here, children investigate different textures through touch. They will also get a chance to enjoy messy play, which generally is a strict no-no in most homes," he smiles. Shweta adds, "We have created snowballs out of maida (refined flour), oil and glitter. We will deep-freeze them."

A sound wall has been created with pots and pans to help kids understand how the shapes and sizes of different objects affect the sound they make. Meanwhile, kids can make DIY greeting cards and book covers for the festive season at the art and craft station.

What's a Christmas party without delicious food? The menu includes Star-Shaped Sandwiches, Green And White Paneer Wraps themed on Christmas trees and snowman-shaped idlis too.
