With the economic slowdown at its peak and gold prices going through the roof, silver is the next best option.
Amrapali, the newly-opened jewellery store at Hotel O, is a treasure trove of silver jewellery, though it also flaunts some gold items. Interestingly, the jewels from this store have adorned the likes of Hollywood actors like Brad Pitt in Troy, and Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock. On display are earrings, rings, kadas, bracelets, neck pieces, gold and silver pendants with uncut diamonds, rubies, emeralds and other precious stones. Though many of the designs are inspired by the Mughal and Victorian era, they also offer a lot of contemporary designs.
ambience: The store is tiny and there is hardly any space to walk or sit. However, the beautiful jewellery adorning the glass shelves make you forget all that.
we liked: At the store you will get a good mix of regular designs as well as some innovative ones. The silver ware is affordable as well as trendy, especially the earrings and the rings. Check out the thread necklace with earrings and the collection of silver with gold-plated designs. The kadas and bracelets are elegant and embedded with precious stones and diamonds. The traditional Maharashtrian gold-plated silver necklace looked fashionable and the pearl-and-stone sets were impressive.
The gold jewellery is expensive, but appealing. The pure gold kangan and earrings in Jaipuri design were the most beautiful of the lot. The ruby-and-diamond gold sets also looked elegant.
