Additional Commissioner of Police Quaiser Khalid (east region) said, “The three persons were murdered after 2.13 am as the CCTV camera, which has been fixed in the bar, was switched off. Once the main switch is turned off, the CCTV camera is switched off too.”
According to Khalid, as soon as the accused entered the bar, he killed Dalvi, the watchman who had been working there for more than 15 years. He killed Madoria next. Both of them had been murdered in their sleep. Dhakolia attempted to escape, but he was killed too.
Hotel Natraj has a staff of 40 members, including four female singers. One of the waiters is the prime suspect as his cell phone has been switched off through most of yesterday. However, the police managed to get through to his cell phone once after which his location was identified. A police team, consisting of one police sub inspector and five police constables, was sent to nab him.
According to the police officials, the prime suspect had a fight with Dhakolia. The prime suspect is allegedly a resident of Kandivli.
When asked whether the accused switched on the lights before committing the murders, he replied, “The bar’s emergency tube lights automatically get switched on after the main switch is turned off.”
One of Dalvi’s neighbours said, “Ganesh, Dalvi’s son, found out about the incident through a television news channel after which he confirmed that the victim was his father.” Dalvi is survived by two brothers and three sisters.u00a0
