Khan Amir Aziz, a 60-year-old, was severely beaten up at his residence in Ghorpadi Gaon by thugs sent by a woman moneylender at 11.45 pm yesterday.

Aziz had taken a loan from a private moneylender Zubeda Khan a few days ago. The woman sent goons to his house, when he failed to repay the amount.

Aziz was alone at home and was beaten up in front of his neighbours. "Nobody came forward to stop the goons," said Aziz, who was writhing in pain.u00a0

Aziz was severely beaten up with sticks on his back, chest and even on his face. Blood was oozing out of his mouth and nose.

"I was trying to convince the lady that the amount of Rs 10,000 will be paid back next day," he said.
Aziz, who is editor of his own newspaper Pol Khol Tantra, used to earn money by filing income tax returns of his neighbours and others in the nearby areas.

Dr A S Dhekane, casualty medical officer, said that the gravity of the wounds on Aziz body was yet to be
ascertained.

"He may need to undergo a nose surgery if the wounds are deep," Dhekane said.
