With the conditions being favourable to the Indian pacers, they should look to make the most of it. With Dhoni in favour of opting for a five-bowler strategy, it remains to be seen how young Bhuvaneshwar Kumar performs as he is capable of swinging the ball both ways.
Umesh Yadav, who makes a comeback to the side after an injury layoff, couldn’t have asked for a better time to prove his mettle. Lanky Ishant Sharma also seems to be in good form considering his performance for the IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The skipper could opt for Irfan Pathan as the fourth bowler given Pathan’s batting skills that could prove crucial for the lower order. With Vinay Kumar being the other option on the pace front, Dhoni has a variety to choose from.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja could be the lone spinner in the side. So Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra might have to wait for the skipper’s nod. It would also be a huge prospect for Shikhar Dhawan, who scored a hundred on debut against Australia in the home Test series last year.
The other teammates — Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and the skipper himself have performed well in the recently concluded domestic Twenty20 tournament. The only problem would be Virat Kohli, who hasn’t been consistent but still remains a formidable player considering that he is a big hitter and could be key to the team’s success.u00a0
