India's 800m runner Tintu Luka may not have clinched the gold as promised by her coach and mentor PT Usha, but she has impressed Usha's good friend and former teammate Shiny Wilson.
Shiny was a keen spectator in the stands on Thursday as Tintu clocked 2:01.36 seconds to clinch bronze at the Aoti Sports Complex. Luka, is India's current national record holder in the 800m having broken none other than Wilson's long-standing 15-year-old record of 1:59.85 when she clocked 1:59.17 at the Continental Cup in Croatia earlier this year.

"She is still very young. This is one of her first major international competitions, so she lacks experience," Shiny, who is here as a representative of the Tamil Nadu Athletics Federation, told MiD DAY.
Speaking of the race, Wilson said: "She paced the race well. She showed she has the talent to succeed on the international stage, but again she lost out on a better finish in the end due to her inexperience. More international exposure will definitely see her do even better at the next Asian Games," said Wilson.
