India's middle-distance runner Tintu Luka qualified for the semi-final of the women's 800 metres at the 2012 London Games here yesterday
Tintu, clocked 2:01.75secs to finish third in the second heat two behind reigning world champion Mariya Savinova (2:01.56) of Russia and Alice Schmidt (2:01.65) of United States. It was below her personal best of 1:59.17 secs achieved two years back.

Tinku is coached by India’s former sprint queen PT Usha.
The top three in each of the six heats and the best six others advance to the semi-finals to be held today.
American Johnson Montano Alysia, who had finished fourth in the World Championships in South Korea last year, led the heats timings with 2:00.47 ahead of defending champion Pamela Jelimo (2:00.54) of Kenya and former world champion Caster Semenya (2:00.71) of South Africa.
