September 2016 has been a good month for the auto industry. The month witnessed a lot of new cars showcased at the Paris Motor Show along with a lot of special/facelifted editions of existing cars being launched. Preparing for a grand festive season in October, the industry witnessed some good number in sales, with Maruti and Mercedes-Benz making a record high domestic sales. The cumulative sales in September have been the highest ever in the year 2016. Let's have a look at the list of the bestselling cars of September 2016.

Maruti clearly dominates the top 10 list with six models, out of which four are in the top five. Hyundai manages the second spot with 3 models in the top spot whereas Mahindra, even without any car in the top ten, takes the third spot. September has seen a good number of sales but the best is yet to come. With the festive season and a lot of upcoming cars, October is the one to watch out for. Maruti is expected to even rise further in the market and capture over 50 per cent share as the largest carmaker of the country is about to launch the Baleno RS, a more powerful variant of the popular Baleno hatchback. Also, Hyundai will be re-introducing the Tucson SUV in the country to rival the Mahindra XUV500 and Honda will be introducing the latest generation Accord in the market.
