People are generally used to criticising government officials for insisting on working from their AC offices. But an official in Thane is ready to work even from a tent. Dashrath Yadav, the chairman of the Thane Municipal Transport, plans to put up two tents so that he can function from them. He has alleged that his office, which faced a black out since a short circuit incident on August 1, has no electricity even now. Due to this he cannot meet anyone or do any work. Hence, last week he wrote a letter to the general manager of TMT, Sudhir Raut, seeking permission to erect the tents from where he can function.

Yadav claims that his office has no electricity as the fear is that something worse may happen. “The room is completely dark and the wires are hanging. We do not want to switch the lights on, because it may cause some other problem. I have to meet people and do my work too, and I cannot sit in that room,” said Yadav.

Yadav claims he wrote the letter last week, after he realised that no action was taken by authorities.

After it the officials immediately contacted Yadav and told him that they will be finishing all the work in his office soon.

“Raut has informed me that he is personally going to look into the issue and get it resolved. However, he has sought time. If he doesn’t do it soon, then I have made plans and I will sit outside in tents. I will spend only my money for them,” said Yadav.

He wants to put up the tents at the Wagle bus depot and work from them.
