Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is introducing a Buddhist Circuit Special Train.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is introducing a Buddhist Circuit Special Train. It will go to all places associated with Buddha.

The Mahaparinirvan Express will offer a package tour going through Lumbini, where Buddha was born, Bodhgaya, where he attained enlightenment, Sarnath, where he first taught and Kushinagar, where he attained nirvana. The eight-day tour will also take pilgrims to Nepal, which has a rich Buddhist legacy.

The eight-day tour will commence from Delhi and then go to Gaya, Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Nalanda, Varanasi, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Lumbini, Srasvati, Agra and back to Delhi.

"The package tour is open to both Indians and foreigners. The Mahaparinirvan Express is a fully air-conditioned train, which will offer all three AC classes and a first AC Coupe too. Indian nationals must carry a government-issued photo identity card (passport, driving license, PAN card etc.) for the Nepal visit and foreign tourists must have valid Nepal visas."

The first tour will begin on October 3. The cost per person for the First AC Coupe is Rs 53,270 and for the AC three-tier class is Rs 34,650.
