Town talk - Gaon ki gori

she might have been living in Mumbai for quite some time now, but Udita Goswami confesses that she is still a small town girl at heart. "I prefer living in Rishikesh or Dehradun rather than Mumbai. The quiet laidback nature of small towns is more me than the crazy rush of this city. Udita tells CS about the five things that make life in a small town super:

Getting behind the wheel

I enjoy driving in the hilly landscape of Uttaranchal. In fact, small town girls are crazy about automobiles. We learn to ride a bike as soon as we enter into our teens. I can ride bikes and maneuver cars like a pro and can even fix up minor problems in my vehicles.

Peacing it together

When I get back to Dehradun, I feel a great sense of peace. After the mad rush that is characteristic of Mumbai, it's a pleasant break. Having said that, I feel that small town girls can adjust and adapt easily to surroundings. They are also more grounded.

Farm fresh

The joy of living in a bungalow is unmatched. I get up in the mornings knowing the house is mine along with the farms and gardens around it. The closest you get to a farm in the city is on Farmville! I feel really sad when I see my friends kicked about buying a buffalo or having a bumper harvest online. While in Dehardun, I spend hours in the farm overseeing the rice and sugarcane plantations.u00a0

Pet peeve

In Mumbai, my three dogs are confined to the flat or to the tiny dog park in my area. In Dehradun, my dogs have a huge space to play. They're happier, healthier and fitter back home.

Recreational options

As a teenager, I remember going for late night drives from Mussoorie to Dehradun. We used to make party pegs in the car, nibble on munchies, play our favourite songs and have lots of fun. We used to make bonfires and dance around it. Here in Mumbai, you just head to a pub or club, which is so boring after a point of time.u00a0
