Q. What inspired this series?
A. I have been studying faces ever since I began my art. Faces are interesting subjects. Now, as we can see, everything in this world has a particular chemistry of light and shade and that’s what I wished to explore. That’s why, the exhibition is tltled, The Crystal Clear Faces.
Q. What inspires you?
A. That is probably the hardest question to answer. Working with MF Husainji was momentous. But the art world is vast and all of us bring our pluralistic perspectives, so we artistically inspire each other in different ways. I really can’t name just one, or even a few. The art world I belong to has inspired me on the whole.
Q. How did you select your celebrity subjects?
A. Certain faces intrigue me. My subjects represent compelling and magnetic personalities. When I selected a subject for this series, I went for an interesting face along with depth of character.
Q. What medium did you use?
A. After many years of experimenting and research, I decided that the most expressive medium for the series would be watercolour on paper.
