A 21 year old trainee police deployed for bandobast at Pantnagar police station in Ghatkopar (E) died under mysterious circumstances in the wee hours of Saturday
The deceased has been identified as Deepak Hase, and his room mate also a trainee policeman Rohan Tikekar has been detained for questioning by the Pantnagar police.
Preliminary inquires have revealed that both Deepak and Rohan are attached to the Police Training School, Kalina. They were sent for police bandobast duty on occasion on Anant Chaturdashi to Pantnagar police station.

According to the police, a little after midnight, both Deepak and Rohan went to the Chaitanya hall adjacent to Pantnagar police station, where they were to take rest.
Around 12.30 am, Deepak and Rohan allegedly had an argument over sharing the dinner plate and in a fit of rage they even had physical fights. Deepak fainted soon after, and was immediately rushed to Rajawadi hospital where he was declared dead before admission.
Speaking to MiDDAY Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Region Qaiser Khalid confirmed the incident and said, “We are unclear about the exact reason behind the death of Deepak, other than a small incise wound no other external wounds are visible on physical examination of the deceased.”
Qaiser Khalid further clarified that only on receipt of the postmortem report the future course of action would be taken.
The Pantnagar police have registered an offence under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code and have began the probe.
A panel of forensic surgeons who conducted autopsy found that the death was due to brain haemorrhage.
However the viscera has been preserved for histopathology, which is sent to JJ hospital and chemical analysis to be sent to State forensic laboratory, Kalina.
