Cheerleader, who received good support at 2/1 to go to the post as a clear first favourite, posted an impressive victory in the August Handicap, which was immediately followed up by another Katrak ward Pierce Arrow (Neeraj Rawal up) which went on to win the upper division of the Moosa M Hoosein Trophy at 8/1.
An hour-and-a-half later Yash Narredu steered a friendless Pugnacious trained by the same trainer to a shock victory at the odds of 10/1 to bag the upper division of the Novotel Pune Trophy.
Yash, who had also won the opening event, the Goodness Gracious Plate, astride Jigsaw trained by his father Malesh Narredu, was the only jockey to score a brace on the nine-race card.
Bookmakers had a field day as three of the four piping-hot, on-money public choices in San Martino, Fury and House Of Commons bit the dust, while only one, Franz Ferdinand, trained by Pesi Shroff, obliged when winning the last race on the card.
