Trip to Jibber Jabber's psychedelic trance as the musical project of Lalith Rao aka Sonik Scizzor and Alekos Vozikis aka Zik begins its India tour tonight

Trance to the music

Let go of your regular set of House music this evening as you groove to the heady mix of Jibber Jabber’s upbeat trance tunes. Lalith Rao and Alekos Vozikis, who got together in 2005 to form Jibber Jabber, are touring the country for the first time and begin their journey with a show in Mumbai tonight.

The duo has been an active force on the psychedelic scene for over a decade now, and with the release of their album Different World, they are all set to offer the new generation a “visceral, groovedelic, upbeat, dark, dancefloor musical story.”

Jibber Jabber intends to transport you beyond time and space

“We met in Burning Man in 2005 in San Francisco and decided to work together on a musical project that was unlike others in the trance scene. Drawing inspiration from a wide variety of musical styles we resonate those ideas into the music we make while still being different and part of the transcendental experience,” narrates Rao, who goes by the alias Sonik Scizzor. Rao, a sound engineer with “heightened listening skills,” is based in Los Angeles, California. The ‘scientist’ and his Greece-based psy-trance partner Zik, who began dabbling with gabber hardcore sounds as a 13-year-old, favour darker sounds as they lead their listeners to a visceral journey into the unconscious mind “where dream states coincide with alternate realities and the ‘defined’ world as we know it is in question.”

Through the vivid sonic arrangements, the duo intends to transport you beyond time and space. Apart from the recently-released Jibber Jabber album Different World, Zik and Sonik Scizzor will also showcase their individual work. “The audience will hear music from Zik’s upcoming releases as well as remixes of past music. They will also hear the album presentation of Sonik Scizzor’s debut album Intergalaktic Magic soon to be released on Dark Prisma records,” promises Rao, who is thrilled to have the chance to perform in the country. Having played at dance floors across the globe, the duo insists India has a certain charm of its own. It’s the chaos and anarchy around the country that excites them the most. Might serve as inspiration for their next album, perhaps?
