Mumbai group stranded in Rajmachi valley brought out safely by members of Shivdurga Pratishthan

The lives of five professionals from Mumbai were saved thanks to the efforts of a Lonavla-based group Shivdurga Pratishthan.

The five friends from Mumbai, including three doctors, were on an adventure trail and were stranded some 100-feet down in a valley near Rajmachi.

They were then located by the local group Shivdurga Pratishthan who pulled them up to safety with the help of a rope.

The group of five friends namely Abhishek Khavnekar, Varun Agarwal, Varun Dave, Kushal Kancha and Mandeep Singh had alighted at Karjat station and were on their way to Rajmachi from Kondeshwar Leni on Saturday.
Instead of proceeding towards Rajmachi, they headed towards Salpe village which was in the opposite direction, said Ajay Raut of Shivdurga Pratishthan.u00a0u00a0

Around 3 pm they realised that they were stuck and were neither able to ascend or descend because of the steep incline. "It was then that we called the nearest police station and they informed the local group," said Mandeep Singh. "Thankfully, there was network and we could contact our relatives and the police to inform them about our situation."

Raut said the group was stuck 100-feet down in the valley. "We set out in my four-wheeler as the spot was remote. After two hours of continuous efforts we pulled them up to safety with the help of a rope," Raut said.

Besides Raut, Baban Sawant, Shailesh Umbre, Nathu Umbare, Nandu Ware, Suresh Janire, Sunil Gaikwad, Raju Kadu make up the team of Shivdurga Pratisthan. With the help of villagers in Rajmachi they were able to locate the stranded trekkers.
