Bad news for Australian fans! The last time their team picked themselves up and won after a Test loss in India was way back in 1969
Australia fans are hoping Michael Clarke & Co can do a turnaround in Hyderabad after suffering a big loss in the opening Test at Chennai last week.

But there’s some bad news for them purely from a historic point of view: The last time Australia lifted themselves with a win after losing a Test in India was in 1969-70. They won the series in 2003-04, but India won the last Test match of the four-Test series. By then, the series was clinched by stand-in skipper Adam Gilchrist’s team.
Kolkata’s Eden Gardens was the ground which witnessed an Aussie comeback — in 1969-70 — after MAK Pataudi’s team won in Delhi. It was a splendid win for Australia, who were helped by pace great Graham McKenzie’s six for 67 which helped dismiss India for 212. Aided by MiD DAY columnist Ian Chappell’s 99, Australia scored 335 and then dismissed India for 161.
This time the damage was caused by Eric Freeman and Alan Connolly, who bagged eight of the nine wickets that fell to pace bowlers. Opening batsmen Bill Lawry and Keith Stackpole knocked off the 39 runs needed for victory with more than a day to spare.
