Kurt Cobain, Nirvana Frontman, died 17 years ago yesterday, prompting the mandatory wave of Twitter tributes.

"17 years today one of the brightest stars in our musical sky was taken from us. R.I.P Kurt Cobain," tweeted c_hardwick, with many other posts quoting Nirvana lyrics and/or Cobain soundbites.

Meanwhile, other people maintained candlelight vigils in Cobain's Washington hometown of Aberdeen and at Seattle's Viretta Park, where some of the singer's ashes are scattered.
