New Delhi: The first cricketer to get a double hundred in ODIs, Sachin Tendulkar, today congratulated Rohit Sharma for becoming the first to achieve the feat twice.

New Delhi: Rohit smashed a 264-run knock against Sri Lanka in Kolkata last night to not just become the highest run-getter in an ODI innings but also the first batsman to notch up two double hundreds.

"I didn't get to see his innings but getting another double ton is special and I feel very happy for Rohit. A perfect form of match practice and preparations before the Australian tour," Tendulkar said.

Rohit's match-winning knock eclipsed the 209 he made against Australia last year.

The right-hander struck 33 fours and 9 sixes during the knock, which is a record in ODIs, surpassing the 25 fours and 7 sixes by Sehwag during his knock of 219 against the West Indies in 2011.

Tendulkar had also recorded 25 fours during his double century -- 200 not out in 2010.
