While four people were seriously injured, 11 others sustained minor injuries in the mishap.
Government Railway Police (GRP) Police Sub Inspector Sanjay Gondhke, attached with the GRP control room, was suspended for not informing his seniors about the fire on time.
“Gondhke did not take the issue seriously and failed to inform his superiors about the incident, which delayed action,” a source in the GRP said.
Head Constable Vasant Gite, attached with Wadala GRP, was suspended for not deploying personnel at Dockyard Road station on December 4. Gite was in-charge of deploying GRP personnel at various platforms.
Sources said when the fire broke out at 11.20 am, there was not a single GRP personnel on the platform to rush the injured to the hospital.
