Two people have been arrested for murdering a woman and abducting her three-year-old son from her home here, police said Wednesday.

Two held for Delhi woman's murder, son's abduction

"The two men - Digvijay, 23 and Sachin, 20 - were involved in the murder of 29-year-old Mohi, abduction of her son, Ishu, and robbery at her house. The boy was recovered safely on Monday from Haridwar, with the joint operation of Delhi and Uttarakhand polices," said Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Beniwal.

Two policemen were injured while conducting the rescue operation after the accused attacked them with a knife.

Beniwal said Digvijay, a former employee of Inamullah - the boy's father - in his mobile shop, hatched a conspiracy along with Sachin and Keshav, as they were in dire need of money.

On Saturday morning, they strangled Mohi to death, abducted her son in front of her maid, Beena who was overpowered at gunpoint. They also ransacked the house.

They left Delhi just after the incident and went to Uttarakhand. On a tip-off, police managed to trace their location.

"Arun, a sub-inspector of Delhi Police and Vivek, constable of Uttarakhand Police, received deep wounds on hands and waist, respectively, while rescuing the boy. We will recommend their names for rewards for their daring work," said Beniwal.

A search is on for Keshav.

The men had also made several ransom calls to the boy's father, Inamullah, who also runs a sari shop.u00a0
