A 3-year-old was lured to a public toilet near her home in Dharavi and violated, while the body of a 5-year-old was found outside her complex in Vashi, with post mortem later revealing that she was raped
Two separate cases were reported on Tuesday of minors being raped, in Dharavi and Vashi respectively. In both the cases, the unidentified accused are absconding. One of them was murdered after being violated. In the first case, a three-year-old girl was raped by an unidentified accused in Dharavi, while in Vashi, a five-year-old girl was raped and murdered.

At Dharavi, the accused lured the three-year-old with a chocolate to a secluded public toilet and then raped her, some time after 6.30 pm. The police revealed that after coming home from work, the victim’s father asked his wife where their daughter was. It was then that they realised that their toddler was missing and launched a search. They found her later in the dark, near a public toilet, crying in pain and bleeding heavily.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Prabhakar Satam said, “A case was registered at night by the victim’s parents. A team of 10 police officials has been formed to arrest the unidentified accused and we areu00a0also taking help from local NGOs.” The case has been booked under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 376 (punishment for rape) of the IPC against an unidentified accused. In Vashi, a five-year-old girl was raped and murdered by an unidentified accused. The girl went missing after 3 pm from her residence in the Kopri area.
Later that night, her body was found beside the compound where she lived. A post mortem reports suggested that she had been raped. Joint Commissioner of Police A K Sharma from Navi Mumbai said, “The five-year-old’s dead body was found next to her compound and after identification, the body was sent for post mortem. The reports say that the girl was raped and then murdered by the accused. A probe is on.” The police team has taken a suspect into custody for interrogation.
