Two revenue officials held taking bribe in Thane

Thane: Two Revenue department officials were arrested red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.


Naib tehsildar Abhijit Deshmukh and talati Janardhan Suryavanshi were held at their Kalyan office in Thane on Monday while they were taking Rs 25,000 as bribe from a complainant, a press release issued by ACB Thane unit said.


The two officers had demanded a total of Rs 30,000 from the aggrieved person for handing him over permission to excavate around 100 brass sand, follwing which he lodged a complaint with the ACB, Thane.


A case has been registered under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act against the two officers and further investigations are underway, it said.
