Two soldiers killed in Pakistan firing on LoC: Police

Two army jawans were killed on Monday as Pakistani troops pounded Indian positions with mortars and machine guns in Gurez sector in Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) in yet another ceasefire violation.

Srinagar: Two Territorial Army soldiers were killed on Monday in Pakistani firing on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, a police official said.


"Two Territorial Army personnel identified as Tariq Ahmad Lone and Waseem Ahmad Lone of 160 TA Battalion attached with 13 Sikh Regiment died in ceasefire violation by Pakistan army at New Post Tarbal Baktoor in Gurez sector (on Bandipora)," a senior police officer told IANS here.


The officer said it was being ascertained whether Pakistan firing was intended to facilitate infiltration of militants into the Valley.
