Under pressure to make good cinema: John Abraham

The 40-year-old is currently working on his second home production 'Madras Cafe', a political thriller directed by Shoojit Sircar of 'Vicky Donor' fame. "We are just one film old and there is a lot of pressure, especially after wining the National Award. Professionally it was the highest point in my career and I am very happy that as a producer I am able to make my kind of cinema.u00a0

"My focus has always been on making good films and it will remain that way. I am very proud of 'Madras Cafe' and hope people will appreciate it," said John, who was in the capital to launch the male grooming range from Philips. Other projects under his home banner are - 'Jaffna', 'Kalaghoda' and 'Hamara Bajaj'.

Meanwhile, John is happy with the success of his recently released 'Shootout at Wadala', which he says was an answer back to people who doubted his acting skills. "I think 'Shootout at Wadala' has put to rest any issues that anyone had with my performances and even beyond that. Hopefully 'Madras Cafe' will raise the bar beyond that. Performances that I have done have been very different and they are always going to be different. I am happy people have appreciated it finally," he added.

The actor, who started his career in 2003 with 'Jism', has given hits like 'Dhoom', 'Garam Masala', 'Taxi No 9211', 'Kabul Express', 'Dostana', 'New York', 'Desi Boyz' and 'Race 2' among others. And though he faced criticisms for his acting in the initial years, John feels if people look back at his filmography now they would appreciate his work.

"If you look back at my films now you will appreciate the performances far more because the audiences have matured. What you probably called great acting in the past, you would call it as over acting today.

"So contentious people who in the past have probably looked down and said John Abraham is a model will now probably will re-think on the entire issue and 'Shootout at Wadala' in a way is my answer back to people saying listen I have done this now please lets move on."u00a0
