On Tuesday, one Rupaji Bangar tried to hang himself by the window rod using a blanket in barrack number 2 of the jail, Police Sub-Inspector S P Bhoi of Bazaarpeth police station said.

Prima facie, the prisoner was depressed and hence tried to kill himself, he added. He was seen by other inmates, who rushed and saved him. Bangar was recently arrested for demanding dowry and has been lodged at the jail, the officer said.
