A 34-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Santacruz by hanging himself from the ceiling fan on Tuesday.
Though police officials are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind Deepak Gawankar taking the drastic step, they ruled out the angle of financial crisis saying that the Gawankars were a well-off family.u00a0
A resident of Aaram Society in Vakola, Deepak was his parents’ only child and a bachelor. Though an expert software and hardware engineer, Deepak was not employed with any firm.

Officials said investigation revealed that Deepak never showed any signs of stress, nor exhibited suicidal tendencies in the past.
PSI Deepak Shinde of the Vakola police station said, “We have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the matter and are noting statement of his friends. The post-mortem was conducted at the Cooper Hospital following which the body was handed over to his parents.”u00a0
